Abstract

A four-dimensional real algebra A containing a subalgebra C isomorphic to the complex numbers C is left C-associative (with respect to C) if A is a bimodule with respect to C and L(MR) = (LM)R whenever L is in C. (Middle and right C-associativity are defined similarly.) This article contains a survey of results about algebras having one or more C-associative properties.
